We put off home buying to have a little fun this year and to pay down our debt a bit more. While I’m desperate for more space, a co-worker suggested renting in the neighborhood we’re thinking about buying in first. I think it’s brilliant! Our lease isn’t up for a while, but we’ve started looking. The one thing I’d love this time around is a true dining room. Two years back when we moved into our current apartment, we didn’t see ourselves entertaining much. Particularly during the holiday season, I’d love the chance and the space to host a dinner party!  And I have the new year’s on my mind…

It’s beginning to feel a lot like.. autumn! My favorite time of year. I’ve never been one for decorating much for holidays (maybe that will change once I have a place I can really call my own), but these gorgeous nail head pumpkins from Lovely Indeed caught my eye. They’re a simple but lovely departure from your typical squash and jack-o-lanterns. I love the clean lines and simplicity.
No muss, no fuss, just push and go!

My favorite sort of wedding DIYs are the sort that are good for something besides just a wedding! I had all these grand plans to craft for my wedding, but really never got it together in time. This tote feels like the perfect place to start. I adore Liz of Say Yes To Hoboken‘s  Blank Canvas Tutorials, and the beautifully simple neon dot tutorial is definitely my fave. Maybe a craft party is in order! Haven’t had one since I was about twelve…

So cute! All you need is a blank canvas bag, fabric paint and a pencil.

How was your weekend? My birthday is coming up this week, so we had a little celebration on Saturday. Just a casual get together, floating on a lake then a bit of BBQ… my favorite way to spend a warm day. Today we lounged about the house, doing a whole lot of nothing – my second favorite
way to spend a weekend day. Husband and I are starting to prepare for our adventure next month,
a long weekend in Vegas. I’m not much for gambling, but I’m really looking forward to the sun, great
food and a whole lot of down time. Now to just pick out a few new travel outfits… and maybe a few other lovely things…

Years and years ago, I worked at a makeup counter and accumulated more eye shadows than any one person (or maybe dozen people) should own. And although I only use a handful of these colors regularly, I can hardly part with such a treasure trove of color. When I stumbled across this post from Lindsay at Delighted Momma on making your own nail polish out of old crumbly shadows, I knew there was a reason I couldn’t part with my preciouses.

Here are Lindsay’s steps:

What you will need:
Clear nail polish.
Eye shadow.
Toothpick.
A funnel. I made mine by wrapping a note card into a cone shape and then taping it on the back.

Take out the eyeshadow you want to use. I used a butter knife to scrape it out of the container. I combined the first two colors of the eyeshadow palette above. Crush it up so it is in a powder form.

Empty a small amount of clear nail polish out so you have room for the eyeshadow powder. Place your funnel into the top. Add the color into the bottle.

Use the toothpick to mix up the color into the bottle. Put the cap on and give it a good shake until it is evenly distributed.

You now have you own custom shade of nail polish!
Now I’m off to find my favorite shadow color!

When I spotted this Apartment Therapy post on creative ways to display family photos, I went crazy for the custom wallpaper from Better Wallpaper Co. I’m thinking this is the piece that will bring together the bedroom. Now to decide which photo – the black and white one here is gorgeous!
Maybe a boudoir style shoot, or something from our engagement set

For the living room, I love the graphic boldness of this DIY multi-piece image from PosteRazor.
Right now a city skyline is at the top of my list. Think night time, bright city lights.

Now I just need a bigger place with bigger walls. Wide open spaces, please.
