I mean, at this point you know getting that bright pink box in the mail, filled with goodies, is basically my favorite ever… so many good ones this time. Per the usual :)

  • Dr. Brandt Pores No More Cleanser : If you don’t know I LOVE Dr Brandt products (particularly the pores no more line), then you haven’t been hanging around long enough. This cleanser was no exception! I’d been looking for a new one and bought this immediately.
  • Helmut Lang Cuiron : A surprising fragrance. Often they’re too heavy for me, but this was clean, bright and citrusy.
  • 100% Pure Coffee Bean Eye Cream : OMG this was the winner! It smells amazing!! I bought it immediately. I love the way my eyes look and feel. Definitely a keeper.
  • Rene Furterer ABSOLUE KÉRATINE Sublime Renewal Leave-in Cream : Delicious smelling, left my hair super soft. A little much for everyday, but great a for a weekly treatment.
  • Model Co Lipstick in Stiletto : FAVE. I love a good red, and this is now on my list of faves. A little more moisturizing than my usual, but with great staying power. I think Model Co lipsticks might be the best ever.modelco_stiletto_selfie2_raudette

Always a winner! This box was full of goodies as usual. Some well known brands’ new items I knew would be great! And a few fun new brands too.

St. Tropez Gradual Tan Shower Lotion I knew the name, knew the brand was known to be the best in self-tanning, but had doubts about this product. And I was definitely wrong. It’s really easy to use, goes on evenly and gives a perfect glow. And just out of the shower feels like the perfect time to get a little self-tanning done. I’ll be working on this gradual tan for our upcoming Vegas trip!

Rene Furterer Lissea Leave-in Smoothing Fluid My hair is so fine and straight already, I tend not to use products like this. But it did leave my hair shiny and not feeling too weighed down. I imagine this would work great for someone whose hair has a bit more texture.

Dr. Brandt Microdermabrasion Exfoliant LOVE Dr. Brandt products and this was no exception. Super fine scrubbers and calming/healing ingredients make this my favorite manual exfoliant yet! My skin felt super smooth but not overworked. I will definitely be buying this.

OPI Nail Lacquer Venice Collection: Amore at the Grand Canal OPI is always my go-to for reasonably priced, quality polish. And this was no exception. A great classic red, with slightly deeper tones. Perfect for heading into fall.

LAQA & Co. Cheeky Lip Tints This went on super smooth and light. Loved the texture and it is the perfect on-the-go cheek color (the shade was a bit too light for me for lip). I keep it in my purse for a little extra color in the afternoon!

Great box this month! Talk about pay it forward. I gave away a beauty blender last month, and bam! One shows up in the mail. Fate definitely wanted me to try this. And I love it!

  • Gilchrist & Soames Spa Therapy Body Wash I’m not much of a body wash person. I’ve been using these great soaps for a while now, but the spa-like scent of this one was a nice little vacation from my usual.
  • Beauty Blender with cleanser LOVING this. After being so-so for year on foundation brushes, beauty blender is the one. I’m sold! It applies my foundation in a lighter, more natural way, but I still get the coverage I want. And I love the little solid cleanser it came with, easy to use and keeps it in good shape.
  • theBalm Read My Lips Lip Gloss in Rose Pink Great scent. Great texture. The particular shade wa a little soft for my taste, but I’m betting the scarlet red or fuchsia will be perfection.
  • BeeKind Conditioner I really like the BeeKind products. I have the body lotion and it smells delicious, and this has the same great smell! It’s pretty light in texture, great for lighter weight hair, but I think I prefer something a little thicker most days.
  • Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Cleanser Juice is another great beauty brand. It’s organic, and incredibly effective. The cleanser has a bright fruity smell, with the slight under-tone of vinegar. It left my skin super clean and feeling great. Perfect for my slightly oily t-zone and occasionally breakout prone skin. I would definitely use it again.

So… our laptop died. Between that and working quite a few extra hours over the past weeks, I’ve neglected my dear little blog. But I’m back! With a snazzy new computer and hopefully a little more time on my hands. I did squeeze in a few fun things lately, including an amazing ladies weekend getaway, and of course my obsession with beauty product sampling. I’ve got quite a few new favorites, one of which came from April’s Birchbox.

  • Harney & Sons Tea Some pretty funky flavors! They were a bit too out-there for my personal taste.
  • OPI tinted nail polish top coat – I think I loved the idea of this one more than I really loved it. OPI makes great, affordable nail polish, and their top coats and treatment products are top notch. This definitely helped my polish stay on longer, but I could take or leave the tint. It did leave a nice extra hint of blue, but I think I’m fine to just pick out the polish color I really want and top it with a clear protective coat in the future (although I am a fan of the matte top coats… but more about that soon!)
  • Caudalie SOS Morning Eye Cream – This is one of my new favorites. I’ve been using it everyday. It’s light but super moisturizing and soaks in quickly. I see a difference in my eyes, it really helps with the puffiness in the morning. It’s going to stay in my regular rotation for sure!
  • Bain de Terre Color Preserving Shampoo & Conditioner I liked the smell and texture of these, and how soft they left my hair, but was disappointed to find out in the reviews that this has sulphates in it… and isn’t really that color safe. Boo.

Overall, a meh box, but since pretty much every other one has been stellar, I’m sticking with Birchbox!

Better late than never! January’s Birchbox was an absolute pleasure. Every item was perfection!

  • Camille Beckman Morelia Monarch Body Butter I love a good body butter. This one is rich but soaks in quickly with a clean fresh scent that feels perfect right out of the shower.
  • Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser This is my new favorite thing! I love the creamy cleanser that’s a just little minty, and the muslin cloth gives just the right amount of exfoliation for every day. I might even turn in my Clarisonic for a bit!
  • Coastal Scents Revealed Palette A perfect nude blend is my everyday best friend. These colors were slightly cooler than my regular nude tones, and they were fabulous – a little sharper and more dramatic, but still soft enough for everyday. I definitely added the full palette to my wish list.
  • OmniPotent Duosity Hair Treatment I haven’t used too many hair treatments before. My hair is super fine and tends to be oily, so usually they weigh my hair down too much. But this one was light and foamy, and I was able to style my hair as usual afterward and head out for the day. It was shiny, lustrous and healthy feeling, with the usual oily residue.
  • Under Armour Braided Mini Headband No more excuses! I haven’t been able to find my headband for yoga for a while now, and I have to admit I’ve been using that as one of the excuses not to go. This one is fabulous because it has a little more grip than the average while still being comfortable. Hot yoga here I come!

I am thrilled! Always a winner in these, sometimes a few. And now I have a new favorite…

BirchBox

  • theBalm Stainiac Lip & Cheek Stain This is the perfect soft pink. I don’t often use a cheek stain because bolder blush is usually the look I go for, but for a lovely, slightly flushed, natural look, I would definitely recommend this. It provides just the right tint for either lips or cheeks.
  • Shea Terra Organics Deep Pore Facial Cleanser My new favorite thing! I’ve been lamenting over the loss of my favorite exfoliating cream for a while now and haden’t found anything that will do the job right, until now! My skin is bright and clean and free from dead, flaky skin. I’ve been using it every other day – I already ordered a full bottle!
  • Alison Raffaele Reality Base Foundation Although the color I was sent wasn’t quite right (I guess I didn’t quite communicate how truly pale I am!), the texture of this foundation was quite nice. I usually wear a full coverage foundation, but this light oil-free version is great for a more natural, moderate coverage look.
  • DDF Wrinkle Resist plus Pore Minimizer Moisturizing Serum The days I wore it my skin felt softer and my pores definitely looked minimized, but I broke out a bit and there might be too much stuff going on here. At least for my skin.
  • ChapStick Hydration Lock I’m a big chapstick fan. I generally always have one in my purse. This one is a bit more hydrating and heavy duty than usual. A little too matte for my every day go-to, but I’ll keep it around and it will definitely do the job when needed this winter!

I don’t think I’ll ever get sick of trying new products every month! Each box I’ve gotten has been full of fun new items, and at least one clear winner that’s made it into my regular rotation. This month? A bright new exfoliating cream, and maybe a couple other things too!

Birchbox 6

  • Keratherapy Keratin Infused Daily Smoothing Cream If I went for a sleek look more often, I think this would be my go-to, but for my fine, limp hair, it was a just a bit heavy for every day. I’ll probably use this a few times, but not enough to justify buying it.
  • Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss Definitely moisturizing! The color didn’t have a lot of staying power, but it left my lips feeling soft and smooth. Like it, but not love it.
  • Ruffian The Crowdsourced Collection in Fox Hunt Gorgeous! This is quality nail polish. Just one coat did the trick and the color is vibrant. Now I just need to find the perfect deep blue to pair it with for fall…
  • Serge Normant Meta Luxe Hair Spray This hair spray is pretty fabulous. It holds, but leaves my hair feeling natural. No helmet head here! It’s a little on the pricey side, but just might be worth it. I don’t know if I can go back to my old drug store brand after weeks of better hair days.
  • Grand Central Beauty SMART Skin Perfecting Polisher I love an exfoliating cream. There was a Clinique one I used for years that kept my skin bright, but was discontinued. They had a close replacement, but it’s a little too gently for my combination skin. This could be my replacement. It definitely packs a pow. My skin felt bright and new after only one use, but just like other exfoliators, try not too use it too often or you’ll end up stripping your skin. This one will be perfect twice a week to slough off the dead, dull skin and bring back a little radiance!
