Back from quite the hiatus! August was a crazy month for work and then our computer went kaput (after we tried to download the next season of Luther… whoops!) and then we had a fabulous Chicago vacation to see a very dear friend! I must say, I’m a little obsessed with Chicago now. We did a little sight seeing, even caught a renegade craft fair, but mostly just ate our way through the city. And boy, did we have some amazing food!
Here are some of the highlights:
First brunch: The Publican. Bloody Mary heaven and breakfast brisket!
Big Star for possibly the best tacos I’ve ever had!
Roasted Hatch Green Chile Burger at DMK Burger Bar
The Beer list at Bangers & Lace
Gilt Bar for everything: the food, the drink, the scene (make reservations!)
A little wine & cheese tasting at Bar Pastoral
…and sandwiches at the Pastoral Artisan Cheese, Wine & Bread shop
Delicious Burrata and Pasta at Mia Francesca
Longman & Eagle for brunch, the Duck Confit Hash is unbelievable
Super fresh and delicious sushi at New Tokyo. The black window roll!
Top: Bloody Mary with a mini beer and the breakfast brisket at Publican.
Bottom: Duck Confit Hash at Longman & Eagle and our brunch drink selection.
Clockwise: the black widow roll at New Tokyo, DryHop Brewers, Pickly things at Pastoral, and a Steigl (amazing carbonated alcholic drink that tastes just like grapefruit juice).
I will definitely be back.
